The NGO ‘Society and Banks’ is warning consumers about a new pyramid scheme that uses fake job offers to lure victims into making investments.
The organization says the company PCDAI is promoting false employment opportunities on social media, promising users jobs and future income in exchange for an initial investment.
Victims are instructed to register on a “platform,” where they receive personal accounts before being asked to invest sums of 180, 875, 2,000, or 3,000 GEL.
To create the impression that the investment is profitable, the fraudsters reportedly pay daily returns for a period of time before disappearing with the money.
The NGO says the scam often continues even after victims lose their funds. Those affected are allegedly contacted again and told the platform experienced a technical problem. They are then urged to invest additional money to recover their original investment.
‘Society and Banks’ is urging consumers to be cautious of online offers promising employment, guaranteed income, or unusually high financial returns, warning that such schemes are often designed to defraud users.
