A Russian missile strike destroyed a factory producing Scout uniforms for the National Organization of Scouts of Ukraine (NOSU) on Tuesday night, leaving scouts without uniforms ahead of the summer camp season.
NOSU says the attack destroyed fabric that had already been purchased, along with uniforms that had been produced and paid for but had not yet been collected.
The organization says the lost uniforms were intended for new Scouts who recently joined the movement and are preparing to attend their first summer camps.
“We cannot ask families to pay for the same uniform twice,” NOSU said in a statement, adding that it does not have the resources to replace the lost uniforms on its own.
The organization has launched a fundraising campaign and is appealing to supporters, partners, and the global Scout community for assistance.

NOSU says a donation of €20 will provide a uniform for one Scout, while €100 will cover uniforms for five Scouts. The organization says all funds raised will be used directly for the production of replacement uniforms and that donors will receive a report detailing how the money was spent.
“We will share an official message from the Chairperson soon with more clarity on the situation and the next steps. For those who would like to verify the appeal – we completely understand. You can go to our official website, ukrscout.org, where you will find the same donation link. You can also learn more about the National Organization of the Scouts of Ukraine on Wikipedia,” the organization wrote on facebook. “You are also welcome to email us at secretariat@ukrscout.org, and our office team will be able to confirm the legitimacy of this appeal. Thank you again for supporting our Scouts!”
