Georgia Today likes to promote new Georgian brands through its “Made in Georgia” series of articles, and today we have another brand to introduce to you – Factura Atelier, which was created by Mariam Makharadze in 2021.
Mariam is a designer by profession. In 2011, she graduated from Tbilisi Academy of Arts with a bachelor’s degree, and in 2016, she started her master’s degree. She is the first place winner of the Tbilisi Week newcomers competition, a participant and prize winner of the international and art competition “Be Next”. What’s more, in 2014, as a designer, she took part in the London Fashion Showcase exhibition, held within the frames of London Week. In 2015, Mariam presented her 2015 S/S at Tbilisi Week as well.
Factura Atelier produces ready-made clothes as well as individual clothes tailored to the wishes of private customers. The brand is eco-friendly and therefore does not produce a large amount of pre-made clothes. They also upcycle and reuse in their production process. A lot of attention is also paid to the creation of each detail by hand. All this gives the quality and the result that the founder and creative director of the brand, Mariam Makharadze, is very proud of and that is why the brand already has many satisfied customers. It should also be noted that the look, created by Mariam at Milan Fashion Week 2023 and worn by Georgian model and influencer Likuna Khachapuridze, was in the best wear list of Harper’s Bazaar and Elle Germany, both online and in the print.
“Some of our dresses and gloves were created using clean offcuts of second-hand jeans. We wanted to highlight that all high-quality fabrics and materials can be reincarnated and given a new life, which will help the world’s ecology,” says Mariam.
