PM: When 95% of Population Opposes Propaganda Parade, Gov’t must Obey

“First of all, what does it mean when they say parade?! I know one parade, this is the parade of our army, which will be held in our country,” the Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili said at the beginning of the government session, thus responding to the events of July 5-6 and the processes surrounding the LGBT Pride.

He said that 95% of the population demonstratively opposes the propaganda parade, and the government obeys their decision.

“First of all, what does it mean when they say parade?! I know only one parade – the parade of our army, which will be held in our country. Other activities may be held to express a different opinion at any other location. Police offered the LGBT community another location.

“The police prevented everything. When 95% of our population demonstratively opposes the propaganda parade, we must all obey it. This is the opinion of our people and we, as a government elected by the people, must obey it. Police arrested the perpetrators. We will hold all the perpetrators accountable,” Garibashvili said.
