A group of protesters announced a scheduled march in Tbilisi on July 4 to mark US Independence Day and expressed solidarity with the United States. The march will begin at 19:00 from First Republic Square and proceed to the Parliament building on Rustaveli Avenue.
Organizers say the demonstration will point to the strategic relationship between Georgia and the United States. Marchers will carry both Georgian and American flags and call for the adoption of the ‘MEGOBARI Act,’ a proposed US legislative initiative aimed at supporting democratic development and civil society in Georgia.
“We want to reinforce the deep friendship between our nations and show that the people of Georgia remain committed to our shared democratic values,” said one of the organizers in a public statement.
