Our main task is to maintain peace and stability in the region, to implement more projects, and we believe that we will implement many projects with such warm friendship and brotherhood, – the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, said at the press conference held together with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
The Prime Minister thanked the President of Azerbaijan for his hospitality and voiced the issues he discussed during the meeting with Ilham Aliyev.
“I would like to emphasize once again how important it is for us, Georgians, to have brotherhood and friendship with you, Azerbaijan, and the Azerbaijani people. We have centuries-old friendship. We have a very strong partnership. Azerbaijan has been not only our friend and neighbor, but also a very strong strategic partner, trade partner for many years. Together with you, we have implemented very important projects of great importance, which have connected our nations even more, have made them even more interdependent, which will last for centuries.
Georgia is a very reliable transit partner country. We are working for the implementation of important projects, we are not stopping. We are working on new initiatives, such as the Black Sea Electric Cable, in order to develop the so-called green corridor. Georgia and Azerbaijan have great potential to supply Europe with green renewable energy, which is very important. It is promising, it is the future, and in this direction, of course, we, both countries, should invest more.
Naturally, we also talked about the current situation in the region. We talked about the difficult situation in Ukraine due to the war. This naturally increases risks for our countries. Such a challenge has not been seen in Europe since the end of World War II. Our main task, our main interest is to maintain peace, stability, which is the basis for greater prosperity for our peoples. It is our main task to have strong economic growth, to create more jobs, to have more prosperity for our people, and in this part we are in full agreement. We want to implement more projects that will further strengthen and connect our countries and our nations”, said Irakli Garibashvili.
