Pro-Western opposition parties join the European march announced by Georgian non-governmental organizations on April 28 and invite the citizens of Georgia to once again peacefully, clearly and loudly say “Yes to Europe, no to the Russian law!” – reads the joint statement of the opposition parties.
They claim that the purpose of the assembly to be organized by the honorary chairman of Georgian Dream Bidzina Ivanishvili on April 29 is to split the Georgian people.
“We, the pro-Western opposition parties, join the European march announced by Georgian non-governmental organizations on April 28 and invite the citizens of Georgia to once again peacefully, clearly and loudly say “Yes to Europe, not to the Russian law!”. We appreciate the position of the civil sector on refusing to register in the defamation registry and suspending cooperation with the authorities until the Russian law is eliminated.
“The gathering planned by Georgian Dream on April 29, at which people employed in public services will be brought to Tbilisi against their will, is an insult to these people, the use of them by the Russian authorities against our common European future, and a clear provocation to the sincere and peaceful demonstrators, whose continuous protests have already have covered the streets of the capital for ten days.
“We apply to people employed in public services. We are well aware of the extent of political pressure that Georgian Dream is using against you. However, this is the moment when each of you must make the only right choice – do not obey the instructions of the Russian authorities and do not become Ivanishvili’s shield in the fight against the European future of our country.
“The purpose of the gathering to be organized by Ivanishvili on April 29 is to split the Georgian people, to create a false image, suggesting there are two camps in Georgia with different positions regarding the Russian law. We fully understand the importance of the integrity of society and will never allow the Kremlin’s dream scenario to divide our people.
With united forces, we are preparing, in a coordinated manner, for the day of the second reading of the Russian law, when we must all together firmly declare “Yes to Europe! Not the Russian law! Not to the Russian government!” – reads the joint statement signed by: Akhali, Girchi More-Freedom, Droa, United National Movement, Republican Party, Strategy Builder.
