Opposition welcomes Megobari Act as ‘true act of friendship’

Petre Tsiskarishvili, Secretary General of the United National Movement, reported that the MEGOBARI Act will be approved by the Senate and signed by President Trump, representing genuine support for Georgia and its people.

“The Georgian Dream’s open letters and lobbying are futile,” Tsiskarishvili said, criticizing the ruling party’s attempts to discredit the legislation. “They thought the U.S. didn’t notice Kobakhidze’s announcement on suspending European integration. But the U.S. and EU are united by shared values, breaking with one means breaking with both.”

As Tsiskarishvili declared, the act will impose sanctions on those obstructing Georgia’s democratic progress. “This is not punishment, it’s protection. The MEGOBARI Act is an expression of friendship toward the Georgian people.”

The United National Movement delegation continues its official visit to Washington, holding high-level meetings with Congress and Senate members.
