Nino Tsilosani: Sexual Offences against a Minor Should Be Considered as Rape

“Preventing violence against juvenile girls and punishing perpetrators is a major challenge today.” – Nino Tsilosani

Nino Tsilosani, a member of the Permanent Parliamentary Gender Equality Council addressed the Minister of Internal affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri during his speech within the “Minister Hour” format in Parliament today.

She called on the minister to personally oversee the investigations of sexual crimes and properly punish the alleged perpetrators.

“Preventing violence against juvenile girls and punishing perpetrators is a major challenge today. It is your responsibility to manage these cases effectively, especially when we, the Parliamentary Gender Equality Council, continue to work on such important legislative changes that sexual harassment of an 11-year-old child is called rape,” Tsilosani said.
