One of the leaders of the Opposition Alliance, Nika Gvaramia, has called on supporters to gather on Rustaveli Avenue on May 26, saying the public should directly address US Secretary of State Marco Rubio during his reported visit to Armenia.
In a social media post, Gvaramia said that “there should be more of us gathered in Tbilisi than the number of our Armenian friends who have travelled to Yerevan to meet Marco Rubio.”
Gvaramia claimed that a large crowd should assemble on Rustaveli Avenue on Monday in order to “speak directly” to Rubio from Tbilisi.
“It has been confirmed that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio will arrive in Armenia on May 26. Since Bidzina Ivanishvili has left us without friends, we need to reach out to ours. Personal appeals from ordinary people, many passionate Georgian patriots, are more meaningful and impactful than face-to-face meetings. Therefore, on May 26, we must be numerous on Rustaveli Avenue, speaking directly to Secretary Rubio from there,” Gvaramia wrote.
