A new phase of development is set to begin at the site of the former Kazbegi brewery. The historic territory has been acquired by development company Next, which plans a comprehensive rehabilitation and transformation of the area.
For decades, the Kazbegi brewery was more than just an industrial facility—it served as a social and economic hub of the city. It created jobs, brought people together, and played a significant role in shaping Tbilisi’s urban identity. Over time, like many industrial sites, it lost its original function; however, its historical and emotional significance for the city has endured.

The uniqueness of the project lies in its deep historical layers. The story of the site dates back to the second half of the 19th century and is closely linked to German entrepreneur Friedrich Wetzel. In the 1870s, together with his brother, he established a brewery on what is now Uznadze Street, which was considered one of the most advanced enterprises in Tbilisi at the time. The factory produced various types of beer and quickly gained recognition, confirmed by a gold medal awarded at a Caucasus-wide exhibition in 1901.

Further details of the project will be disclosed in stages.
