The National Bank of Georgia (NBG) reported that its Dispute Resolution Commission, established in alignment with Georgia’s 2014 Association Agreement with the EU, evaluated around 90 cases between payment services and consumers, including banks, in 2024, with 85% of these cases resolved in favor of consumers.
Primary issues:
- Unauthorized transactions – consumers reported unapproved charges on their accounts.
- Delayed payments – complaints over processing delays.
- Incorrect deductions – disputes over wrongful charges.
As a result of the assessment, financial institutions have reimbursed their affected consumers with a total of GEL 300,000.
Consumers experiencing payment-related issues can submit complaints to the Commission.
