Sergeant Mamuka Meladze of the Eastern Command of the Defense Forces (born in 1978) was found dead late last night, the Ministry of Defense reports.
According to the Ministry, an investigation has been launched.
“The Military Police Department of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia has started an investigation into the fact of suicide under the 1st part of Article 115 of the Criminal Law. Sergeant Mamuka Meladze of the Eastern Command of the Defense Forces (born in 1978) was found dead late last night, having hanged himself at one of the facilities of the agency. Witnesses have been interviewed, relevant examinations have been appointed and investigative actions are being carried out.
“According to the preliminary information, the suicide is related to a family conflict.
“The Ministry of Defense expresses its sorrow over the mentioned fact and offers its condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased,” reads the information released by the Ministry of Defense.
