Georgia has begun its annual flu vaccination program, offering free immunization against seasonal influenza across the country. As the Ministry of Health stated, a total of 200,000 doses of the French-manufactured, four-component VaxigripTetra vaccine (produced by Sanofi Winthrop Industrie) have been purchased under the state immunization program. The vaccine is among those recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO).
Officials note that this year’s vaccine has been adapted to protect against the flu strains expected to circulate during the upcoming season. The ministry stresses the particular importance of vaccination for people with chronic illnesses and those in high-risk groups for whom influenza can pose serious health risks.
The flu shot is available free of charge at vaccination service providers and polyclinics across Georgia for everyone aged six months and older.
