The Georgian Competition and Consumer Agency (GCCA) has recently approved two market concentrations in the alcoholic beverage and fast-moving consumer sectors.
The first case was the acquisition of a 90% stake in LLC Evercraft International, the high-alcohol beverage market, consisting of 215 companies with a total volume of 20.1 million liters in 2024, which remains moderately concentrated (HHI = 1,275.48)by LLC G.D. Alkos. The company had only a minor share previously.
The second case involved the acquisition of 67% stakes in LLC Euroline by LLC BMS. The retail sector had over 7,000 operators in the previous year, with an HHI of 690.98, while 85 distributors operated at an HHI of 457. Notably, both were categorized as low-concentrated.
Overall, in the year 2024, GCCA assessed 52,593 concentrations, having imposed fines in the amount of 288,400 GEL. As of now, in 2025 two concentrations have been approved already, with the other three being evaluated now.
