Garibashvili: According to Schedule Agreed with NATO, Georgian Units Leave Afghanistan

The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Garibashvili, says that according to the schedule agreed with NATO, Georgian units will leave Afghanistan together with the American troops.

“Today, NATO decided to phase out its mission in Afghanistan by September this year. Accordingly, according to the schedule agreed with NATO, Georgian units will also leave Afghanistan,” the Prime Minister said.

Garibashvili noted that the withdrawal of the Georgian contingent from Afghanistan will be coordinated with the United States. The Prime Minister thanked the Georgian soldiers for participating in the mission in Afghanistan.

“We pay special tribute to the soldiers who died in the Afghan mission, to the Georgian heroes who sacrificed their lives for the sake of world peace and security. We bow to their vivid memory,” he said.
