Two political parties – Lelo – Strong Georgia and Georgian Dream – have applied to Georgia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) to participate in the local council by-elections scheduled for October 3.
The deadline for political parties to apply to the CEC expired on August 17. At its latest meeting, the election administration assigned ballot numbers to the participating parties: Lelo – Strong Georgia will appear as number 9, while Georgian Dream will be number 41.
By-elections will be held in the municipal councils of Vani, Tsalka, Dmanisi and Akhmeta on October 3. The elections will be conducted under the majoritarian system, with voters electing four majoritarian members of the municipal councils.
September 3 is the deadline for participating parties to submit their majoritarian candidates to the relevant district election commissions.
The CEC said seven polling stations will be opened for the by-elections. Electronic voter verification and vote-counting devices will be used at four of them. The current number of registered voters is 2,201.
