For Georgia MP: Speculations related to start of 2008 war aim to revise facts and mood in society

Speculations related to the date of the start of the war in 2008 are aimed at only one thing – they want to revise the facts and the mood in the society about who started the war – MP Beka Liluashvili of the Gakharia for Georgia party told the media.

Liluashvili claimed that it is a fact confirmed by international documents that Russia started the war against Georgia and Russia is the occupier. Liluashvili also says that the war against Georgia started much earlier before 2008.

“At a time when Georgia is honoring the memory of many people and a significant part of the territories of Georgia is still occupied, the conversation should be on the ways of peaceful de-occupation.

These are the days when the occupying state – the Russian Federation – started hostilities against the Georgian people. He occupied the territories of Georgia and has been deepening his creeping occupation ever since. Even in peacetime, the Russian occupation takes the lives of civilians.

We must free ourselves from the burden of occupation peacefully – we must restore the territorial integrity of the country peacefully,” said Beka Liluashvili.

16 years have passed since the August war.
