Rustavi Azot, a subsidiary of Indorama Corporation, has secured a $65 million loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to advance its expansion and sustainability efforts in Georgia.
The financing will fund the construction of a modern low-density ammonium nitrate production plant and energy efficiency upgrades at the company’s existing facilities in Rustavi. These improvements aim to reduce environmental impact and align operations with international sustainability standards.
A substantial share of the funding is structured as a Green Loan, consistent with the Loan Market Association’s Green Loan Principles and will be directed toward projects that improve energy efficiency and environmental performance.
Rustavi Azot joined Indorama Corporation in 2023, marking the multinational fertiliser producer’s first European manufacturing site. With an annual production capacity of 550,000 tons of ammonium nitrate, the company plays an important role in Indorama’s regional growth strategy and supplies markets across the South Caucasus and beyond.
