The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has announced that final turnout for the elections reached 58.97%, with around 1.5 million votes.
Polling stations closed at 8:00 p.m. local time, about an hour before the announcement of the final turnout figure, while vote counting is now underway.
Armenia’s last parliamentary elections, the 2021 snap vote, recorded a turnout of 47%, while the 2017 election reached 60.86% — the highest on record.
The CEC said the highest participation was recorded in the southern Syunik province at 66.67%. In Yerevan, turnout stood at 58.46%, while the lowest figure was reported in the Gegharkunik region at 54.6%.
A total of 2,005 polling stations were set up across the country. Preliminary results are expected in the coming hours.
