A group of 47 women farmers from Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti have taken part in Georgia’s first training program focused on fruit and vegetable processing as part of Farmer Field Schools.
The training introduced participants to skills such as preparing dried cherry tomatoes in olive oil, kimchi, and other processed products aimed at helping farmers turn agricultural produce into business opportunities.
The sessions were organized through three Farmer Field Schools and supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
The program is part of a wider initiative involving 13 Farmer Field Schools and more than 200 women, providing training in areas including dairy production, food safety, and product development.
Organizers said the initiative aims to strengthen local farming skills and create new income opportunities by helping women farmers add value to their agricultural products.
