Landslide destroys homes in Tkibuli village as dozens of families evacuated

A landslide in the village of Kursebi in western Georgia has destroyed five residential houses and forced the evacuation of 38 families, local authorities said.

Tkibuli Mayor Davit Kublashvili stated that the landslide occurred in the Erodzeebi and Gogolashvilebi neighborhoods of the village.

“A landslide developed in the village of Kursebi, in the Erodzeebi and Gogolashvilebi areas. Five houses were destroyed, and we evacuated 38 families. Fortunately, no one was injured,” the mayor told the Georgian Public Broadcaster.

Authorities in Tkibuli Municipality say they are providing temporary accommodation for affected residents, including hotel stays and other housing options.

Emergency teams from the Emergency Management Service of Georgia and other relevant services are currently working at the scene, while geologists are assessing the area to determine the causes of the landslide.
