Data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia shows that the number of registered vehicles in Georgia continued to grow in 2025, reaching 1,914,908 units by the end of the year. The figure represents a 6.9% year-on-year increase, meaning 124,321 vehicles were added to the national fleet during the year.
Passenger cars make up the vast majority of vehicles in the country. Of the total fleet, 1,650,048 vehicles are passenger cars, reflecting the dominant role of private transport in Georgia.
Nearly half of all registered vehicles in the country are located in Tbilisi. The capital accounts for 855,002 vehicles, representing 44.6% of the total fleet nationwide. Among them, 766,748 are passenger cars.
Other regions with relatively large numbers of registered vehicles include:
- Imereti– 213,316
- Kvemo Kartli– 165,126
- Kakheti– 152,259
- Adjara– 131,187
The smallest numbers were recorded in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti, with 11,401 vehicles and Abkhazia, with 11,909 vehicles.
The statistics also highlight the aging structure of Georgia’s vehicle fleet.
Geostat shows the following:
- 4% of vehicles are more than 10 years old
- 8% are between 5 and 10 years old
- 2% are 2–5 years old
- 2% are less than two years old
In Tbilisi, the number of vehicles older than ten years increased significantly in 2025, rising by 14.3% to 582,668 units.
The share of older vehicles is particularly high in Imereti and Kvemo Kartli, where more than 91% of registered vehicles are over a decade old.
