Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze met with Shaikha Nasser Al Nowais, Secretary-General of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO).
During the meeting, Kobakhidze congratulated Al Nowais on her election as Secretary-General and wished her success in her new role. In turn, Al Nowais thanked the Georgian government for its support of her candidacy.
Georgian government announced that the talks focused on the long-standing and productive cooperation between Georgia and UNWTO. The sides highlighted positive trends in Georgia’s tourism sector and the country’s diverse tourism potential. It was noted that by 2025, the number of international visitors to Georgia had exceeded 5.5 million, marking a historic record.
The discussion also covered measures taken by the Georgian government to further develop and strengthen the country’s tourism potential.
Kobakhidze invited Al Nowais to visit Georgia.
The meeting was held in Dubai on the sidelines of the World Governments Summit and was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs Maka Bochorishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili, and Head of Government Administration Levan Zhorzholiani.
