Cold weather accompanied by intermittent precipitation will persist across Georgia through January 18, National Environmental Agency announced.
In Tbilisi, cold and mostly dry conditions are forecast for January 15–16, while snow is expected on January 17. Nighttime temperatures will range between -3°C and -5°C, with daytime highs of +2°C to +4°C.
In coastal areas—including Batumi, Kobuleti, Anaklia, and Poti—precipitation is expected, with nighttime temperatures of +1°C to +3°C and daytime temperatures of +5°C to +7°C.
In the lowland areas of western Georgia—such as Zestaponi, Kutaisi, Samtredia, Zugdidi, Martvili, and Ozurgeti—precipitation is forecast mainly in the form of snow. Temperatures will drop to -1°C to -3°C at night, rising to +4°C to +6°C during the day.
In the mountainous regions of western Georgia, including Ambrolauri, Oni, Tsageri, Shovi, Chiatura, Sachkhere, Khulo, and the Rikoti Pass, intermittent snowfall is expected. Nighttime temperatures will range from -5°C to -10°C, while daytime temperatures will be -1°C to -3°C.
In high mountainous areas of western Georgia, such as Mestia and Bakhmaro, periodic snowfall is forecast, with temperatures falling to -13°C to -15°C at night and reaching -5°C to -7°C during the day.
In Kartli, including Rustavi, Bolnisi, Marneuli, Gardabani, Gori, and Tskhinvali, snow is expected in some areas. Temperatures will range between -6°C and -8°C at night, and +1°C to +3°C during the day.
In Kakheti—covering Sagarejo, Telavi, Gurjaani, Sighnaghi, Lagodekhi, Kvareli, Akhmeta, and Dedoplistskaro—snowfall is expected in certain locations, with nighttime temperatures of -5°C to -7°C and daytime temperatures of +2°C to +4°C.
In the mountainous regions of eastern Georgia, including Akhaltsikhe, Borjomi, Dusheti, Tianeti, and Pasanauri, snow is expected in some areas, with temperatures dropping to -12°C to -14°C at night and rising to -2°C to -4°C during the day.
In the high mountainous areas of eastern Georgia, such as Akhalkalaki, Tsalka, Bakuriani, Gudauri, and Omalo, snowfall and blizzard conditions are expected in some places. Nighttime temperatures may fall to -18°C to -20°C, with daytime temperatures of -6°C to -8°C, the Agency said.
