Meteorologists say scattered precipitation—some of it heavy—is expected nationwide on January 13, with snowfall forecast in mountainous areas. On January 14, snow is expected across most of the country, with particularly intense snowfall in some regions. The weather will be accompanied by strong westerly winds and stormy conditions at sea, with waves reaching force 4–5.
The NEA also cautions that adverse weather conditions may include fog, blizzards, icing on power lines, icy road surfaces, and an increased risk of avalanches in high mountainous zones.
“Due to heavy snowfall, blizzards, poor visibility, icy conditions, and avalanche danger, traffic restrictions may be imposed on certain road sections,” the agency said. “Expected precipitation may also significantly raise river water levels in western Georgia and could trigger landslides and mudflows in hilly and mountainous areas. The overall hazard level is assessed as medium.”
Authorities advise drivers and residents in affected regions to exercise caution and follow official guidance as conditions evolve.
