The Institute of Earth Sciences and the National Seismic Monitoring Centre reported that minor earthquake was recorded in Georgia on Tuesday morning. Seismologists reported that the quake originated near the town of Oni, with the epicentre located approximately four kilometres east, in the village of Jinchvisi.
The earthquake occurred at 11:18 local time and had a magnitude of 3.1 on the local magnitude (ML) scale. Light tremors were felt in Tbilisi, though no damage or casualties have been reported.
Authorities continue to monitor seismic activity in the region.
