Georgian wine was showcased in the Netherlands this year, featured at the internationally acclaimed ‘Folie Culinaire’ gastronomic festival in Maastricht, one of Europe’s leading events for wine and fine dining professionals.

Supported by the National Wine Agency of Georgia and its partner Wijnimport Bleeker, the three-day festival brought together thousands of guests, including sommeliers, restaurateurs, importers and media representatives. Around 50 wines from nearly 20 Georgian producers were presented, offering both traditional qvevri-made and modern styles for tasting.

The showcase formed part of Georgia’s broader strategy to strengthen its foothold in key export markets. The National Wine Agency has been pursuing an ambitious international marketing campaign, focusing on Europe, the Americas and Southeast Asia. In 2025 alone, the agency supported presentations at 21 international exhibitions and organized about 220 tasting seminars across 20 countries.

“Events like Folie Culinaire are vital for positioning Georgian wine as both a cultural product and a competitive export,”the Agency noted.

While exports to the Netherlands have seen fluctuations over the past decade, the market continues to show engagement. After reaching a record USD 2 million in 2014, export values ranged between USD 425,000 and USD 457,000 from 2022 to 2024. In the first nine months of 2025, Georgian wine exports to the Netherlands totaled USD 395,600, slightly lower year-on-year but reflecting ongoing activity and consumer interest.
