The Prosecutor’s Office has requested pre-trial detention for the parents of Giorgi Bachiashvili, former director of the Co-Investment Fund, during an ongoing hearing at the Tbilisi City Court.
Bachiashvili’s mother, Marina Ramazashvili, and father, Aleksandre Bachiashvili, are currently outside Georgia and have been charged in absentia.
Prosecutors say that between 2017 and 2023, Giorgi Bachiashvili laundered $2,944,957 and ₾1,097,187 in illicit income with the assistance of his parents.
Both have been charged under Article 25, Section 194, Subparagraph “c,” Part 3 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carries a prison sentence of 9 to 12 years.
