Tbilisi Mayor and Georgian Dream Secretary General Kakha Kaladze condemned recent discussions of an “overthrow” or “coup,” stressing that the state will respond with the strictest measures.
“We hear some nonsense about overthrow and coup. I do not want my compatriots to participate in this process,” Kaladze said, adding that external forces are attempting to destabilize the country.
He claimed that foreign funding is being channeled through universities and used “for evil purposes” to divide society and encourage unrest. “It doesn’t matter what political views one has—I don’t want a citizen of my country to be involved in this filth,” he stressed.
Kaladze warned that resources from abroad are being spent to incite coups, revolutions, terrorism, and extremism, but assured that state agencies are working around the clock to safeguard peace.
