The Georgian State Security Service has announced plans to allocate GEL 40,000 to promote its official Facebook page. The decision was made formal on September 13 when the First Deputy Head of the agency, Lasha Maghradze, requested approval from the State Procurement Agency.
The procurement documents stated that the contract was issued through a simplified procedure. The agency justified its choice by pointing to Facebook’s dominant position in Georgia’s digital landscape.
Officials pointed out that the platform continues to provide the country’s largest audience reach, advanced targeting tools and technical capabilities that are unmatched by other networks.
“All of the above components represent an extremely important element,” the agency stated, adding that Facebook should be regarded as having exclusive authority to provide the necessary advertising services.
