Former Chairman of the Adjara Government, Tornike Rizhvadze, has been transferred to a clinic in Turkey for further treatment. The information was confirmed to InterpressNews by Lali Turdzeladze, Clinical Director of the First University Clinic, who stated that the transfer was made at the request of Rizhvadze’s family.
Rizhvadze was hospitalized on July 7 with a gunshot wound to the chest. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, he initially received emergency care at “Geohospitals” in Sagarejo before being moved to the First University Clinic in Tbilisi.
In connection with the incident, Alexi Akhvelediani was detained for the negligent storage of a firearm. The court later released him on 30,000 GEL bail.
