A major state-funded infrastructure project to transform water supply systems is now in progress in Georgia’s Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti region. With a total investment exceeding GEL 32 million, the initiative targets Tsageri, Kveda Tsageri and Lentekhi, and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
Led by the United Water Supply Company under the Ministry of Regional Development and Infrastructure, the project promises 24-hour access to clean water for residents of all three locations.
In Tsageri and Kveda Tsageri, the plan includes a full overhaul of the ‘Chkhuteli’ headwaters, the drilling of six new wells, and the construction of a new collection reservoir and chlorination unit. Other upgrades involve installing a new pump at the local station, rehabilitating two existing reservoirs and building a 17-kilometer-long water supply network complete with a new main pipeline.
Lentekhi’s improvements is dependent on a gravity-fed system sourced from three existing head structures. The town will see the construction and rehabilitation of water reservoirs, installation of chlorination and booster units, replacement of old pipelines, and development of a new 16-kilometer network. The project also includes a SCADA system and water metering infrastructure.
