The Ministry of Internal Affairs has arrested Rovshan Iskandarov, deputy chairman of the council of the same municipality, and another person for stuffing ballots into the ballot box in the 69th precinct of Marneuli.
The detainees are accused of deliberately falsifying election documents, a crime punishable by up to two years in prison.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, officers from the Kvemo Kartli Police Department arrested two individuals: R.I., born in 1984, and I.I., born in 1990, following operational measures and investigative actions.
The investigation revealed that during the parliamentary elections in Georgia on October 26, 2024, at polling station No. 69 in the village of Saddhuli, Marneuli municipality, the defendants unlawfully placed multiple ballot papers into the box.
As a result, the Marneuli District Election Commission ordered the voting to be halted at precinct No. 69, declaring the voting results invalid.
The individuals were arrested as accused parties following the investigation. The case is being pursued under Article 164 of the Criminal Code, which addresses the intentional falsification of election-related documents.
