“This period is very decisive” — President meets with Western ambassadors

President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili met the ambassadors of EU member states on May 4 regarding the developments in the country.

At the meeting, which was held in the Orbelian palace, the president spoke about the importance of EU member states’ support for Georgia’s European path and thanked the ambassadors for their efforts.

The statements made by Bidzina Ivanishvili were very provocative towards you, but also towards the population of Georgia. All this means that we are in a tense situation and you, as our partners, have a very important role in ensuring stability, – the President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili said during the meeting with the ambassadors of the EU member states.

She appealed to the ambassadors to make many high-level visits to Georgia during this important period.

“I think the period starting now will be key because the third hearing is scheduled. The way the dates are chosen is also a bit provocative, I think, because it’s all happening in the Easter period, when it should be a time of reunification and depolarization, and instead the opposite has happened. Also, the statements made by Bidzina Ivanishvili were very provocative towards you, but also towards the population of Georgia. All this means that we are in a tense situation and you, as our partners, have a very important role in providing stability to the Georgian people, which is caused by the fact that you do not consider Georgia as lost, but perceive that it is continuing its path towards European integration and that Georgia is not alone. My request is to make high-level visits during this period, until the end of May, after that I know that an important period for the Europeans is coming, which is related to the elections, the elections of the European Parliament, and our American friends will also start the active period of the elections”, – said Zurabishvili.
