Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Education and Sport of Liechtenstein, Dominique Hasler, and deliberated on the Georgia-Liechtenstein bilateral and multilateral relations.
As noted, the visit of the Minister is the first official visit from Liechtenstein to Georgia. The Speaker expressed his gratitude to Liechtenstein for supporting the territorial integrity of Georgia, as well as for co-sponsoring the Resolution of Georgia on the Status of IDPs and Refugees at the UN General Assembly.
As Hasler noted, Georgia and Liechtenstein share common values, such as respect for democracy, human rights and international law. The discourse included cooperation between the countries in various spheres. The emphasis was made on the enhancement of parliamentary links.
The parties touched upon further cooperation prospects in the education and science spheres. Hasler highlighted that Liechtenstein supports the European aspirations of Georgia and is committed to sharing the experience of Liechtenstein as the EEA member state in regard to the EU legal approximation.
The parties agreed to further bolster bilateral relations and enhance cooperation on a multilateral level, including during the CoE presidency of Liechtenstein.
