MIA: Only those citizens will be allowed in airport’s arrivals hall who are employed in building or need airport services

The Ministry of Internal Affairs released a statement noting, as the agency responsible for the rule of law and security, the Ministry of Internal Affairs ensures the protection of public safety and the freedom of expression of each individual during gatherings and demonstrations, adding as long as it does not exceed the permitted boundaries envisioned by the law.

“Law enforcers are mobilized in Shota Rustaveli Tbilisi International Airport vicinities to ensure the rule of law and security. Herewith, due to security concerns, only those citizens will be allowed in the airport’s arrivals hall who are employed in the building or need airport services. The police ensure the protection of the right to peaceful assembly and demonstration as the Georgian constitution provides.

In accordance with Article 9, Part I, Sub-paragraph “B” of the Law of Georgia “On Assemblies and Demonstrations,” it is prohibited to hold a gathering or demonstration inside the airport buildings and in the areas located within a twenty-meter radius from their entrances.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs calls on the organizers and participants of the rally to express their protest in the permitted territory, to observe law and order, and follow the legal requests of the law enforcement officers.
During the protest, each act of violation will be immediately foiled by police,” reads the statement.
