“Several issues related to vaccination are important. It is important to know who will be considered fully vaccinated – a person vaccinated with two doses or a person vaccinated with a third booster dose. This will also be a topic of discussion for experts. Before making a decision, we will, of course, wait for the recommendations of the International and our vaccination scientific committee,” said Tamar Gabunia, Georgia’s Deputy Health Minister.
She noted that the epidemiological situation remains significant, however, the declining trend observed over the past two weeks is promising. Gabunia added that the spread of the Omicron strain in the country makes it particularly difficult to make epidemiological forecasts.
“Twenty-four cases have been confirmed in Georgia. Currently, up to 15 cases are suspected to be Omicron. Under these conditions, it is very important to tighten preventive measures. These are the regulations that apply to the use of face masks, social distancing, and avoiding large gatherings,” Gabunia said.
