The National Food Agency has suspended operations at an unregistered pickle production facility in Tbilisi after inspectors identified critical violations of food safety standards.

The agency says inspectors from its Tbilisi Department inspected the facility on Meveli Street following a notification received by the agency. The business, owned by an individual identified as J. Sh., was found to be operating in breach of multiple food safety requirements.

Inspectors identified serious hygiene violations, deficiencies in washing and disinfection procedures, and problems with the facility’s infrastructure.

The agency also found that the business operator had been operating without being registered in the Register of Economic Activities.

The operator was fined in accordance with Georgian legislation, and the production process was suspended.

The National Food Agency urged business operators to comply fully with food safety legislation and established regulatory requirements.
