Russia has started importing gasoline from India as fuel shortage deepens, Reuters reports, citing industry sources.

One source said at least 60,000 tons of gasoline have already been shipped from India to Russia. Another said two tankers, each carrying 30,000–40,000 tons, are en route.

A third source said Russia plans to import around 400,000 tons of gasoline per month from various countries.

Reuters notes that Russia’s gasoline consumption in the summer season is at least 110,000 tons per day.

India is meanwhile one of the largest buyers of Russian oil. Reuters writes that in June, India’s imports of Russian crude reached a record 2.7 million barrels per day, accounting for more than half of its total oil imports.

The report says Russia has also begun importing fuel from Belarus as disruptions linked to Ukrainian drone strikes on Russian oil refineries continue. It adds that since early May, the price of Belarusian gasoline exported to Russia has increased 1.8 times.
