The captain of the Georgian national football team, Guram Kashia, has ended his international career following Georgia’s friendly match against Romania.
The match marked Kashia’s final appearance for the national team, bringing to a close an 18-year international career. The defender made 129 appearances for Georgia and captained the side during its participation in the 2024 UEFA European Championship.

Earlier this year, Kashia announced his decision to retire from international football and said he would bid farewell to supporters during the friendly against Romania.
He was substituted in the 64th minute and left the field through a guard of honor formed by his teammates, receiving applause from fans and players alike.
Kashia is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in the history of Georgian football and leaves the national team as one of its most capped players.
