Georgia to participate as partner country at Shanghai tourism exhibition

Georgia will take part in ITB China 2026, one of Asia’s largest tourism exhibitions, as a partner country, in a move expected to strengthen the country’s international profile and attract more visitors.

Final preparations are currently underway ahead of the exhibition’s opening in Shanghai on May 26. Deputy Economy Minister Irakli Nadarishvili, Deputy Culture Minister Giorgi Mortskhulava, and Head of the National Tourism Administration Maia Omiadze visited Georgia’s national stand to inspect readiness for the event.

As part of the promotional campaign, photo and video materials highlighting Georgia have been displayed across nearly 400 locations in Shanghai, including two major airports and central public squares. A series of promotional videos about Georgia has also been produced for broadcast through Chinese media and digital platforms.

The exhibition will welcome high-ranking guests, who are expected to visit Georgia’s pavilion. Visitors will be able to explore the country’s culture and tourism potential, while also tasting traditional Georgian cuisine and wine.

Georgia’s national stand will cover 400 square metres, with dedicated working spaces for around 30 Georgian tourism companies to hold meetings with potential international partners. Presentations and business sessions promoting Georgia’s tourism opportunities will also be held throughout the exhibition.

Over the course of three days, guests at the Georgian pavilion will have the opportunity to experience Georgian culture, folklore, gastronomy and wine. Supported by the Ministry of Culture, the pavilion will also showcase examples of traditional Georgian handicrafts and museum collections, while hosting masterclasses in traditional crafts and Georgian calligraphy.

Throughout the exhibition, visitors will be introduced to traditional Georgian dance and polyphonic singing, with this year’s cultural programme featuring performances by the Rustavi Ensemble.

Chef Irakli Asatiani will also present Georgian cuisine to visitors and conduct culinary masterclasses during the event.

Ahead of the exhibition’s official opening, a special gala reception hosted in Georgia’s name will take place on May 25, bringing together nearly 700 high-ranking guests. Attendees will be introduced to Georgian gastronomy, culture and tourism opportunities.
