Rospotrebnadzor has suspended sales of alcoholic beverages from three major Armenian producers, citing alleged violations of mandatory physical and chemical standards.

The restrictions target Vedi-Alco CJSC, Abovyan Brandy Factory LLC and Shakhnazaryan Wine and Brandy House LLC. Products affected include Getap Vernashen red semi-sweet wine, Vedi Alco dry white wine, Armenian 5-star cognac and Shakhnazaryan XO cognac.

The agency said laboratory testing found non-compliance with required parameters, but did not provide detailed public breakdowns of the results.

The move follows earlier Russian restrictions on Armenian goods, including a ban on the import and sale of Jermuk, after inspectors claimed its chemical composition did not match labelling and that bicarbonate ion levels exceeded permitted norms.

Rosselkhoznadzor has also imposed restrictions on Armenian flower imports, citing phytosanitary safety requirements and protection of export potential.

The latest measures come as relations between Armenia and Russia have cooled further, with Moscow increasingly accusing Yerevan of “unfriendly steps” as shifting geopolitical alignments deepen.

Armenia has moved to deepen engagement with Western institutions, including steps toward European Union integration, while tensions have grown over security commitments and regional policy.
