The Parliament adopts amendments to the Law on Higher Education, under which students enrolled before December 17, 2025 will retain the opportunity to obtain and improve state grants until the 2030–2031 academic year.

The amendments apply to students who enrolled under rules in force before the abolition of the grant system and who expected to be eligible for state funding or to increase existing grants during their studies.

The previous regulation only allowed students to retain already awarded funding, excluding the possibility of improving it or participating in future state grant competitions.

Under the amendments, students during the transition period will be able to participate in state grant competitions, benefit from social programs, and obtain or improve study and master’s grants.

The law also applies to foreign students studying in Georgia based on the results of the 2025 Unified National or Common Master’s Exams, allowing them to receive state educational or master’s grants.
