The Pentagon has released a long-delayed $400 million military aid package for Ukraine, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed on April 29, following months of political pressure and administrative setbacks in Washington.
Speaking at a hearing before the United States House Armed Services Committee, Hegseth told lawmakers that the funding had finally been unlocked after bureaucratic obstacles were resolved.
“The funds were released as of yesterday,” he said, providing the first official confirmation that the assistance package is now moving forward.
The aid, which had faced delays amid broader debates in Congress over continued US support for Ukraine, is expected to bolster Kyiv’s military capabilities at a critical stage of the war, as Ukrainian forces continue to confront Russian advances along multiple front-line sectors.
