Leaders of Georgia’s “Opposition Alliance” held a meeting with the United Kingdom’s ambassador, as the group intensifies outreach to international partners during ongoing political tensions in the country.
Speaking to TV Pirveli, alliance representatives said the meeting aims to introduce the coalition’s vision and request targeted support from the international community.
Tamar Chergoleishvili, leader of the “Federalists,” stated that the alliance seeks not only political change but also broader democratic renewal.
“We intend to explain that the alliance’s goal is not only to defeat the regime, but also to restore public trust in democracy, and that is why we are starting with ourselves. This is a kind of democratic reset project. The second point is how we plan to defeat the regime, what our path to victory is, and specifically what we are asking from the international community along this path,” she said, adding that the broader aim is to ensure Georgia’s alignment with the “free world.”
Meanwhile, Giorgi Baramidze, Political Secretary of the United National Movement, highlighted the importance of continued international backing for Georgia’s pro-European aspirations.
“We are speaking with all of Georgia’s friends about how to save the country from this Russian-backed group that is leading Georgia toward isolation. The United Kingdom, like other friends of Georgia, supports the Georgian people so that Georgia becomes a civilized, peaceful, European, united, and prosperous country,” Baramidze said.
The meeting comes as opposition forces seek to consolidate efforts and strengthen ties with Western partners, positioning themselves as advocates for democratic reform and closer integration with European and transatlantic institutions.
