A new protected area, Egrisi National Park, is planned in western Georgia’s Samegrelo (Megrelia) region, covering parts of Tsalenjikha, Chkhorotsku, and Martvili.

A draft law establishing the park has been submitted to parliament. The proposed protected area would cover 37,074 hectares.

The legislation is expected to enter into force in 2027.
