Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili held a face-to-face meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev at the Presidential Palace in Tbilisi, as part of the Azerbaijani leader’s ongoing state visit to Georgia.
Georgian President’s Administration reported that the two leaders discussed the high level of strategic partnership between Georgia and Azerbaijan, as well as successful cooperation across multiple sectors.
During the meeting, Kavelashvili emphasized that maintaining and further developing the strong strategic partnership between the two countries remains a key priority for Georgia. The leaders also underlined the growing importance of preserving stability and peace in the region amid shifting geopolitical dynamics and changes in the international order.
Kavelashvili expressed gratitude to Aliyev for Azerbaijan’s continued support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. He also thanked the Azerbaijani president for personally visiting the Georgian Embassy in Baku to offer condolences following the death of Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II.
Following the meeting, President Aliyev made an entry in the official guestbook at the Presidential Palace.
The talks form part of a broader agenda of high-level meetings and ceremonial events during Aliyev’s visit, which also includes discussions with Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and a series of symbolic engagementsin Tbilisi.
