Georgia’s National Environment Agency (NEA) has issued a weather warning forecasting scattered rainfall across the country from late April 3 through April 5, with some regions expected to experience heavy showers, thunderstorms, and strengthening winds.
Forecasters say strong westerly winds are also expected to affect eastern Georgia, including Tbilisi, on April 5–6.
The agency warned that the anticipated precipitation may lead to a significant rise in river water levels, as well as avalanches and landslides.
“The expected precipitation could lead to a notable rise in water levels in rivers, the formation of avalanches in high-altitude areas, and the activation of landslide processes in hilly and mountainous regions. The overall threat level is considered medium,” the National Environment Agency said.
