Based on a decree by the Government of Georgia, August 29 has been declared a public holiday.
Thursday, August 28, is Mariamoba (Dormition of the Mother of God) and is already a public holiday. Between Thursday and the weekend, Friday, August 29, was also declared a holiday by the “Georgian Dream” government without giving any reason. Presumably, this was done to extend the days of rest.
The Government Administration noted that the decree, signed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, does not apply to financial obligations of individuals under the supervision of the National Bank of Georgia.
Furthermore, the decree does not apply to services and employees whose functions are considered urgently necessary.
